Harry Vs. Holden

Kids nowadays don’t view Holden the same as they used to in the 60’s when kids adored him. Today, kids prefer characters like Harry Potter. I think this is because Harry is smart, considerate, and selfless.
Harry Potter is a very smart character. He picks things up very quickly and shows his intelligence in and out of school. Even when school is very difficult for him and he is very lost and confused he pushes through and manages to prove himself. He shows everyone his potential by picking up spells that even the smartest kids struggle with. While Holden is busy not caring about his grades and getting kicked out of school after school.

He is always thinking about others. He wants to help people with their problems and be friends with everyone. He goes out of his way to make people happy and help them even if it gets him in trouble. Holden however, doesn’t care about the people around him and doesn’t try to help them or make them happy.

Harry is very selfless. He doesn’t think about himself. He does things for others even if it means sacrificing himself. Even in the beginning he is willing to give his life to ensuring the safety of others. Holden on the other hand, comes off very selfish. He wants things for himself and thinks about himself first.

Overall, kids these days don’t want someone as uncaring, unfocused, and alienated as Holden. They are looking for someone smart, caring, and popular like Harry Potter.
